The Commissioners welcome your interest in Guilford County government, and hope the following information will prove helpful in acquainting you with some of the opportunities through which citizens can participate in local government.
The Commissioners believe that the County is generally best served when there is broad representation of volunteer Guilford County Citizens on our boards and commissions. It is their desire to reflect a broad participation in appointments, including male and female, persons from all geographic areas of the County and persons representing diverse racial and age groups.
Some board and commission seats require designated skills or training as specified by regulation. In such cases, the Board of County Commissioners must appoint persons who meet those guidelines.
We are striving to improve our services to local residents. Below you will find an introduction to the many boards and commissions on which Guilford County citizens can serve. You will also find a copy of the resolution for establishment of the revised policy and procedures for appointments to County boards, commissions, committees or authorities, board or commission membership listing, an application, and a current vacancy list.
Reappointment is not guaranteed and subject to State Statute, Board policy, or the Board's decision in a particular instance.
Please note: In addition to the ongoing boards and commissions listed, the Board of Commissioners from time to time also appoints groups to address specific, short-term concerns.
If you would like to receive further information about any of the boards and commissions listed contact the Office of the Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, Post Office Box 3427, Greensboro, North Carolina 27402.
